New Single: “Learning to Drive with Dad” by the DARTZ – Found on Bandcamp

Have a Little Fun with the DARTZ’ New Single, “Learning to Drive with Dad”

Storytime, fiends. This story is about learning to drive with dear old dad as you make pit stops at bars, comparing his fast-paced lifestyle to the slow pace of mom’s safe existence. The hysterical approach to this entertaining tale, often reminisced with an extra helping of mashed potatoes at inappropriate times like family dinners, is played out in song and video (embedded below) thanks to the latest single called “Learning to Drive with Dad” by the DARTZ.

Their fast approach with a high-pitched hypnotic guitar along with a killer bass line and snapping drums dig their claws in you, revealing a song that stimulates your brain for another line of … lyrics. Transporting you back to a time when telling stories of a bad father were expressed to show how it built character. It’s sad, yet fun. It’s terrible, yet this is why we drink – no? Thanks, Dad.

Of course, all this talk of drinking and “next rounds on me” has me walking to the fridge for a cold one. That’s when “Earn the Thirst” kicks on, another new song by this band from Wellington, New Zealand. While the bass line from the gate is stellar, I devour the guitar solos found intertwined throughout this tune, which has me salivating for another beer like Pavlov’s dog each time I hit play.

Both of the tunes have been dropped to promote their new album, Dangerous Day to be a Cold One, coming out on March 1, 2024. One that I’ve marked on my calendar to peep once released. You can pre-order the thing at smokedartz.bandcamp.com. And prepare for the drop by watching the video below.
